At Here4Horses a very important part of what we do, is to rescue, rehabilitate and nurture horses and ponies in need of our help.

Amazon

Possibly one of the cheekiest, cleverest and most resourceful Shetlands alive, Amazon is now the easiest pony in the paddock to catch and simply adores attention.

+

Angus

Thankfully that is all behind him now and this cheeky monster is unrecognisable from the poor, depressed and neglected little chap he once was.

+

Anna

Anna arrived under very sad circumstances in January 2020, she was accompanied by her field companions Chequers and Tinkerbelle.

+

Badger

Badger came to us in the summer of 2021, as a very late foal of the previous year.

+

Brucie

When he was well enough, Brucie was introduced to our Shetland herd – but it took some time for him to be fully integrated.

+

Charley Marley

Charley and his two pals were brought to our attention by a concerned member of the public.

+

Chequers

Chequers came to us following the tragic and untimely death of his owner in January 2020, along with Anna and Tinkerbelle.

+

CoCo Bean

Coco Bean came to us in early 2024 having developed Equine Metabolic Syndrome (EMS).

+

Cracker

A cheeky faced character, carrying rather too much weight, bounced down the ramp of the transporter.

+

Crusoe

It’s easy to forget the sorry state we found Crusoe in, when we were called to rescue an abandoned foal in late summer of 2018.

+

Denzil

Denzil is innately shy in character and chooses his friends carefully, however, his calm and sensible nature make him popular with everyone he meets.

+

Donald

Donald came to us as a distressed colt foal, discovered by one of Northumberland County Council’s Animal Welfare Team.

+

Douglass

Douglass (named after long-time H4H supporter Katy Douglass) had been ‘rescued’ by well-meaning people.

+

Fino

As time passed she settled well within a mixed herd and she has matured into a beautiful little ‘leg at each corner’ coblet.

+

Giuseppe the Elf

Giuseppe was found by a member of the public one wintry night in December of 2018 and reported to the RSPCA.

+

Gizmo

We received a call from a lady in Northumberland who was about to lose her land in a remote location and home to her visually impaired Clydesdale horse.

+

Heidi

A call from a member of the public, led to a volunteer making a visit to a Durham building site in April 2018.

+

Hilda B

Hilda B is unusual in several ways.  She is female for starters, when normally it is colts that we find abandoned.

+

Jaffa

The transformation was almost instantaneous (as it often can be) and in no time at all Jaffa was allowed to join our herd of mini’s.

+

Jester

Jester has since been out and about strutting his stuff and, he even took the Reserve Champion prize at Northumberland County Show!

+

Jupiter

Still sensitive and always on a mission, he will be the perfect partner for a small person with a devil may care attitude to life.

+

Lilly Mae

We were contacted in November 2020 by a concerned neighbour, desperately hoping that we could help find a home for this wee Shetland cutie, who needed a friend (or two).

+

Marvin

He had been abandoned – left tied to the railings of a derelict school, with two others, who we named Doogie and Donald.

+

Miss Parsnip

Parsnip can still be wilful and wily with the other ponies but her sassy character means she likes to be pampered and show off too.

+

Moyrus

Concerned members of the public had called to say how sad he looked, standing for long hours in his roadside paddock looking bored and lonely.

+

Muffin the Mule

Muffin will happily jump fences and gates without hesitation, to be with her current beau.

+

Murphy

Murphy on the other hand, with appropriate treatments and lots of TLC, almost immediately turned a corner.

+

Ninja

Ninja is quite a character – a proper Victor Meldrew who likes plenty of personal space.

+

Noggin the Nog

Noggin’s particular case, captured everyone’s heart.

+

Parsley

Parsley has now grown and is fully mature. From a sad, straggly little unwanted mite, he is now a beautiful, ‘leg at each corner’ mini cob.

+

Patrick

Patrick’s coat was still damp from the birth and he was immediately introduced to hourly bottle feeds.

+

Penelope

It is heartbreaking to think that given her advanced years, it is likely this old lady was abandoned as she was no longer useful for breeding purposes and needed costly veterinary intervention.

+

Perkins

Perkins sadly started out, as yet another unwanted and abandoned foal. He was very lucky to be found before he met a miserable fate, like so many others.

+

Rocky

Rocky (or Myshallman, Shamrock or Rockstar) appears to be one of those neddies whose name has morphed over time. If you know, you know.

+

Sophie

On arrival, we found Sophie in quite a bit of discomfort as she was suffering from a condition called Laminitis.

+

Stephen

From the outset he proved quite a little character. He would look everyone directly in the eye, almost like he could read thoughts.

+

Sullivan (Sully)

Please sponsor Sully. By doing so, you not only sustain a bright future for him – but also for others just like him.

+

Summer

Summer’s dam Womble, came to us having been discovered running loose on football grounds for several weeks.

+

TikTok

TikTok clearly needed a great deal more time and careful handling and as his elderly owner watched us work, she soon recognised that she would not be able to cope with him any longer.

+

Tinkerbelle

Tinkerbelle joined us under the same sad circumstances as Chequers and Anna, in January 2020.

+

Tommy Shelby

Visits were made and Shelby easily charmed his way into a new Loanie Pony home in deepest, darkest Staffordshire!

+

Trigger

It was clear from the outset that Trigger was a clever little chap who would use his appealing face to garner all kinds of extra treats.

+

Womble

Back in 2017 we were called by one of the RSPCA Animal Welfare Officers asking for help to catch two foals running wild on playing fields in County Durham.

+

Zeus

Zeus came to us to retire, following the very sad death of our wonderful Chair and Founding Trustee, Claire Robinson.
