Virtual Gifts
We use a lot of items day-to-day which we feel are essential to the happiness and wellbeing of our horses and ponies.
Some of these items can be purchased quite cheaply and some are quite costly.
Please note that you are not buying these items for yourself, but be assured that any product that you do choose from this list, will go directly towards making life better for our residents.

As we approach the ‘season of good will’ the Here4Horses team are particularly grateful, not only for what we have achieved but also the many lovely people who have made it all possible.
It is a time for all of us to show kindness to others and often involves the giving of gifts.
If you would like to give a little something for our resident herd to enjoy over the festive period they would be very grateful – just like us!

Mudcontrol mats can make such a difference, during the awful wet weather conditions we seem to experience these days.
You can purchase a single mat (or as many as you like), to help our horses, ponies and peeps to tread safely.
Size: 50cm x 50cm per mat. Please note, you are not buying this item for yourself - it will go directly towards making life better for our residents. -
This is the original antiseptic wound gel invented by Thomas Pettifer & Co.
The original Green Oils combines an antiseptic agent ‘chloroxylenol’ with natural oils to create a formula that soothes minor wounds, cuts and abrasions.
We have used this product for decades on mud fever prone horses to help loosen scabs, to deter flies and midgies in the summer and to protect sheaths and udders from biting flies too. It also gets used instead of Vaseline for lubricating thermometers!
We wouldn’t be without it.

We can go for months and months with little more than routine vaccinations and dentals required for our horses and ponies.
This is lucky for us and we are always so grateful to our vet Dr Nicola Endersby who plays a significant role, helping us to make ends meet by keeping our fees to a minimum.
Unfortunately, there will always be instances that require further investigation or procedures - which come with greater external costs.
Your kind purchase will go to our ‘Veterinary Help’ fund for when these occasions do occur.

At any one time, some of our horses and ponies (predominantly in our Shetland herd) are affected by Pituitary Pars Intermedia Dysfunction (PPID), which is the correct term for a disease commonly known as Equine Cushing’s Disease.
They require daily doses of a drug called Pergolide.
It costs us over £1 for each tablet – thankfully some only need one quarter of a pill per day.
If you could help us pay for these prescriptions, in order to keep the ‘old-timers’ fit and well, we’d be eternally grateful.

It is worrying for us, that despite our best efforts, we repeatedly face serious trouble financially. Our future is far from secure.
As a small, volunteer run charity, we are always under pressure to pay the bills, as we don’t yet have the income of a more established organisation.
It currently costs around £240 per day to keep the Here4Horses wheels turning. This might seem like a lot of money for some people and surprisingly little for others - equivalent perhaps to just one Director level salary in a big company.
Nevertheless - we rely heavily on our team of wonderful volunteers who step up time and again to help keep us afloat.
More than 70 horses and ponies will spend the rest of their lives directly benefitting from the fact that we are Here4Horses. Hundred’s more have indirectly been helped, through our expertise, intervention, advice and commitment to education.
Having taken in 3 more ponies recently, we have no choice but to close our doors until the situation improves. This makes us sad.
Please Be Here4Horses and give what you can. Thank you.
