Fino

We would really like to be in a position to respond at times just like this one, in order to help other charities protect horses and ponies, no matter what the circumstances.

Right from the beginning we have believed that collaboration between animal charities is key to being effective in dealing with horse welfare issues.

Sponsoring Fino means we will be able to continue to do that – thank you!

The story so far...

Fino came to us in the summer of 2021 as one of six ponies we agreed to take in, following an appeal from our lead body The National Equine Welfare Council.

A multi-agency operation, involving several of the large charities had taken place and a group of abandoned ponies had been rescued – our Trustees felt we should help if we possibly could.

One of our lovely volunteers Kathryn Parker is responsible for her unusual name, having made a substantial donation for the opportunity; Kathryn very kindly continues to sponsor Fino too.

Fino was thankfully in fairly good condition on arrival but was rather highly strung and could be quite emotional when handled; it was clear from the outset that she had personality!

As time passed she settled well within a mixed herd and she has matured into a beautiful little ‘leg at each corner’ coblet, who in time, will be started under saddle to prepare for life as a perfect partner for some lucky little boy or girl on our Loanie Pony Scheme.

Likes:

Loves fence-hopping especially when the grass is greener on the other side. She also prefers human contact over relationships with other horses.

Dislikes:

Being crowded by her field mates – she is fond of her personal space.
