Linda
The majority of my life has been spent working with horses in various capacities. Now semi-retired, I still enjoy running the livery yard at home on our farm and am a keen amateur photographer.
When asked to be a Founding Trustee and Treasurer for this new charity, I was really happy to get involved.
In a former life I have worked as a farm secretary and have acquired sound book-keeping skills over the years. Before this, I trained at Harrogate Equestrian centre and achieved my BHSAI and later my Intermediate Teaching Certificate. This led to time working in Italy with showjumpers and other varied groom roles.
The highlight of my career was setting up the Equestrian Unit at Houghall College in Durham, which was like a dream come true for me. It was here, back in 1992 that I met Wendy who had taken on one of our students as a trainee.
Years later she also got me involved with the local and Regional British Horse Society as a Treasurer. I saw first-hand the fantastic job Wendy and her team of Welfare Officers did, rescuing and then rehabilitating poor, neglected and abandoned horses and ponies.
Unfortunately, there is a dire need for this fantastic work and all our supporters can be certain that their donations will be put to good use, bringing positive change to the lives of horses and ponies in need of our help.
