Amanda G
My interest in horses and ponies began at age 4 when on a family holiday in Scotland and a visit to a pony trekking centre. I was so hooked, we used to go 2-3 times a year and even though I’m not from a horsey family, at age 8 we bought my first pony from the trekking centre.
After school, I then studied for an Advanced National Certificate in Horse Management at Houghall College. It was here that I first met trustees Wendy and Linda who were both lecturers at the college.
My career has primarily been spent working in hospitality, though I also worked on various yards and in riding schools alongside this. I feel the experiences and skills gained, dealing with the public on a daily basis, fit well working as a volunteer on the front line for Here4Horses. My skills at event management also come in handy to support the trustees in organising fundraising activities and shows for the charity.
I always enjoy meeting new people at our trade stand at shows & visitors will find me very keen to tell the individual pony stories and explain how essential public support is for the charity.
